In February of 2020, Dr. Courtney was awarded the Excellence in Journalism and Contributions to the Pet Industry Award, making him the first veterinary specialist, and African-American Veterinarian to receive that award.   Although he endeavors to make even more significant contributions in the pet industry, he was extremely humbled and grateful for that recognition.  Dr. Courtney co-hosted Pet Talk, a first-of-its-kind, national talk show on Nat Geo Wild. He has continued to be a featured guest on a myriad of programs such as Rachael Ray, Live with Kelly, The Doctors, Home and Family, The Real, The Boris and Nicole Show, and Pet Collective’s Ask a Vet/Hot Vet. Courtney served as the veterinary medical correspondent for Top 30, a contemporary news program. Currently, Dr. Courtney serves as Chief Creative Officer of the multimedia platform Vet Candy, and host of Vet Candy Watch a veterinary news show on Facebook Watch. He also co-hosts Rapid Rounds on Vet Candy which gives a unique and innovative approach to continuing education
